Aquatic & flying species in Planet Zoo 2: what is confirmed
Updated 2026-10-04
On this page
The single most-requested Planet Zoo 1 feature is officially in the sequel: fully aquatic and flying species. Here is everything that is actually confirmed, separated from community speculation.
Confirmed (official sources)
- The Steam store description states the game includes "fully aquatic and flying species."
- Frontier has released gameplay and feature-focus videos on the Steam page, including a Gameplay Trailer — the store page is the canonical reference.
- A dedicated "Feature Focus - Wildlife Reserve" video exists, confirming reserves as a core pillar.
Not confirmed (do not trust sites claiming otherwise)
- No official species list has been published. Any page listing a "confirmed Planet Zoo 2 roster" with specific animals is extrapolating from trailer frames unless it links an official source.
- No details yet on water-quality management systems, filtration, or aviary construction mechanics.
The questions we will answer at launch
- How do aquatic habitats get built — terrain tools, tank pieces, or both?
- What welfare stats do aquatic species have (water quality? temperature? salinity?)
- How is flight contained — aviaries, netting, or open flight with escape risk?
- Do aquatic/flying species integrate with Wildlife Reserves?
This page becomes the reference hub for those answers on October 13.
